360 Version of Minecraft to be Updated Regularly

Ever since the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has been announced, it has long been argued that it will be an inferior game compared to the PC counterpart. The main point that is brought up is that because the PC version is constantly updated, the 360 will not be able to compete because of Microsoft's certification process. This is a good point, it it was true. 4J studios says that their “Xbox Live Arcade version of MineCraft might receive constant updates.”

It should be remembered that Patty Burns, who is the chief technology officer of 4J, said that he doubts the 360 will ever get updates as fast as the PC, but he expects the current standard to be improved upon. Basically, they are hoping the turnaround of the testing to be increased, because Microsoft knows that “do a similar thing that's on PC where they constantly update it, that's a very difficult thing to do on Xbox because you have to go through the full tests”.

But even if the updates were as regular as the PC, the 360 version of the game will still be inferior. Why? Well, where will the mods be? The game will not be nearly as open source as the PC, therefore the players will have less creative control over the game, therefore it will be inferior.
